The main focus at Marecom is erosion protection of riprap against flowing water.

This causes a lot of problems around the world, and often requires very costly repair and improvements that could have been avoided.

There are several methods and remedies that can be used for repairing damages and protecting against erosion. After examining the specific case we will suggest a solution and give a cost estimate.

A unique technology for Marecom is a flexible, steel reinforced concrete mattress that can be used where riprap is exposed to heavy water erosion.

The mattress itself is made of very strong and durable PVC or PES coated triple woven tarpaulin. Inside there is a grid of steel reinforcement made up by galvanized steel wire rope. The grid is positioned in the middle of the mattress by a patented system of spacers.

On the outside the tarpaulin is reinforced by a grid of strong woven bands. The construction gives a basic flexible concept for the use of concrete and can be applied in many different ways.

The concrete can be mixed on site with local sand/gravel and the mattress put out and filled without hindering the daily activities. In most cases this makes the Marecom concept a very cost effective alternative.
